Please join the East Metro Project Homeless Connect at the St. Paul River Centre on Monday June 29, 2009.  The event is scheduled from 8:00am-4:00pm. Your time and services will help end homelessness.

·         It will be held at the RiverCentre in St. Paul for ONE day from 8-4 (you don’t have to be there the whole time)

·         The event planners expect approximately 1,300 peopleto attend!

·         It’s a one stop shop for people who are experiencing homelessness to connect to resources such as housing, dental, haircuts, public benefits, employment and legal aid assistance

·         You will be helping people get connected and EMPOWER them with resources

·         Responsibilities of a volunteer can range from greeting guests, serving food, or escorting people around the event.

·         It’s a great way to give back to the community and to make a DIFFERENCE!

Hundreds of volunteers will be needed to make this event a success.
There are opportunities for individuals and groups to volunteer.

Volunteer Commitment We ask that volunteers attend a short training session prior to the event.  At the training session you will receive info regarding parking, food/beverages for you and your volunteer duties.  It's a great opportunity to meet and network with others.

This year we are offering four training options. When you register to volunteer, you will also register to attend one of the training sessions.

Day of the Event Volunteer Roles:

·    Intake and Guest Services Volunteers: These volunteers assist with intake of each guest that comes to the event. During the intake process volunteers will be responsible for sitting down and talking with each guest.  During this conversation, volunteers will ask the guest some questions in order to help the guest connect with the services they most need and want. After the intake process the volunteer will hand the guest a map of all of the services available, circling recommendations for the guest, and guiding the guest to the services. The volunteer will introduce the guest to the service providers they want to talk with, help answer any questions the guest has, and simply listen to and support the guest while they are at the St. Paul RiverCentre.

·
Exit Survey Volunteers: These volunteers will assist the Exit Survey Team by asking each guest before they leave the event a few survey questions. These surveys will help us gather important information about the successes of the event and what we can do to improve the event in the future.
